Police say that shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, officers were called to the area of Maryland Avenue and the Rockville Town Center to investigate a reported crash.
The investigation determined that a driver - whose name has not been released - crashed into the local ice rink, totaling the car. Both the driver and a passenger in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported among pedestrians or skaters.
It is unclear what caused the crash, which remains under investigation.
